Ryan has been working in the healthcare field for over 10 years. He has worked in various outpatient physical therapy and chiropractic clinics, which started his curiosity about the connection between the mind and the body.
The search for answers to this mind and body connection led to studying eastern philosophy, meditation, and mindfulness. Research connecting these ancient beliefs to our present understanding of neuroscience led Ryan to Peter Levine and his program, Somatic Experiencing®.
The 3-year training has become the structure and foundation of his understanding of how the body communicates and functions as a whole, and how to support the body to heal. The 3 year training consists of teachings from some of the most respected and well known clinicians in the field of trauma. Along with education around nervous system response to trauma, specific subjects from motor vehicle accidents, surgical trauma, developmental trauma, and touch skills with trauma are taught. Contingent on receiving certification is completion of reviewing cases with faculty Somatic Experiencing Practitioners and having personal sessions to understand the work from our own work.
